Being a business owner can be HARD. It seems like every day there is something that needs your attention or a different fire that needs to be put out. Things are constantly changing, and you can find yourself overwhelmed by the day-to-day operations.

It can also be hard to keep up with the never ending changes happening in the online space. One day you are told a strategy will work, and the next day, it's old news. You also may feel the need to do ALL the things yourself and then end up procrastinating on the tasks that will actually move your business forward.

So how are you ever supposed to see growth and elevate your business? Here are 5 steps that I have seen improve businesses time and time again.

Improve efficiency

There are only so many hours in the day and only so much work one person can do. In order to open up more time for you to provide services or create products, you need to systematize processes that you do frequently.

One of the best ways to improve efficiency and get more things done is to streamline your processes. Putting systems in place will not only save you time, but it will also save you money. You can do so by creating standard operating procedures, or SOPs.

SOPs are documents that outline specific procedures done in your business. These SOPs allow others to come in and follow your set procedures, giving you confidence in letting go of that task. For example, you might have a written out process that are consistently the same for onboarding a new client, sending out a weekly newsletter, or completing that month’s marketing campaign.

Improving your efficiency can save hours per week.

    Create a strong online presence

You NEED an online presence. An online presence is critical in creating a sustainable business. Having your business online means that you are able to build brand awareness and tap into markets you may not have been able to in the past. It also helps you create relationships with your target audience.

Having a website to showcase your products or services is a great way to grow your business. You then need to map out a clear customer journey and a strong call to action. Both of these things will help convert visitors into paying customers.

Another great way to get people to visit your website is through organic traffic such as Google. Making sure your website appears as one of the top results in Google is no small feat. However, prioritizing this will help you elevate your business.

    Offer valuable content

Content is an important part of building a business. Showcasing your products and services in a way that shows you are an expert in your field is crucial to building your brand.

Some important questions to ask yourself when creating content:

    • Who am I talking to?

    • Who am I trying to reach?

    • What kind of help do they need?

    • Does my audience prefer written content, video content, or audio content?

    • What platforms is my audience on?

    • How can I find my target audience?

Content that is written with your target audience in mind and is optimized for search engines will go a long way in elevating your business.

    .

    Connect with your audience

Connecting with your audience and engaging with them will ultimately help your business grow. Creating a community of like minded people is something a lot of businesses are seeing a positive shift in. People love to feel connected to the people they are thinking of buying from.

People crave social interaction, and there are plenty of ways you can foster those relationships and build a community of your own. One of the best ways to do so is by sharing your unique story. Focus on putting your customer at the center of the journey and help them reach their goals.

    .

    Ask for help

I understand the struggle that comes with recognizing that you need help. There are so many thoughts and worries that go through your mind.

    • Will they be able to do it the way I want it to be done?

    • Will things get completed on time?

    • How much is this going to cost me?

    • How do I even get started?

    • What if I mess up?
